The Voyage of My Umrah (4) : Brunei Darussalam

Bandar Seri Begawan Airport, Brunei Darussalam
Holla Creamers! It's already October. How was your September? Mine is so perfect! After my short trip to Jogja (its been two weeks :')), I'm going back to my hometown again at the end of the month for my cousin's wedding party.
No, nope, this time I'm not going to tell about my Jogja trip, as I promise on my last umrah post, I will talk about my one day trip to Brunei Darussalam.
I went to Brunei Darussalam on March 15th, We flew at 17.00 PM from Jeddah, and arrived in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam at 09.30 AM on March 16th. It took about 11 hours, phew... and later I got my first jet lag >_<
Brunei Darussalam! It's really a super awesome country. This country is one of the smallest nations on earth after Singapore that is located on the island of Borneo in South East Asia. With an area of 5,766 square kilometers, the country consists of two unconnected parts and they are divided into four districts. Besides sharing its border with the state of Sarawak, Malaysia, it also faces the South China Sea in the North. The per-capita GDP in Brunei is US $49,400, ranking them 9th in the world. The US was ranked 12th in the world in 2011.

Of a total population of approximately 331,000, 64 percent are Malays, 20 percent are Chinese, and 16 percent are non-Malay indigenous people, mainly Ibans and Dusuns, as well as several other minor tribal groupings. Europeans make up a small percentage of the population.
Malay is the official language, but English is spoken almost everywhere in the State. The Chinese community speaks Hokkien; other languages and dialects include Hakka, Cantonese, Mandarin, and Hindi.

Brunei bener-bener negara yang menginspirasi, and I really enjoy it when our guide show us Brunei Darusalam.

According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the 29th Sultan of Brunei Hassanal Bolkiah was the world’s richest man in 1993! Forbes magazine has described that Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah has a total asset of more than 25 billion US dollars. Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah is well known for being a keen collector of cars. Once the sultan had more than 530 Mercedes-Benzes, 500 Rolls-Royces and 360 Ferraris in his car collection.

Almost 78 percent Brunei was still covered by jungle - a higher percentage than anywhere else in Asia.
Brunei also enjoying free income tax, free medication (just pay $1 for registration) , free education , low crime and free from typhoon and earthquake.

Kampong Ayer is the famous “floating village” in Brunei, masyarakat asli Brunei mayoritas dari sini. Mirip-mirip sama orang-orang dari Kalimantan (namanya juga 1 pulau). Tapi yang bikin salut disini, airnya bersiiiiiiiih banget.

In Brunei Museum, Muzium Teknologi Melayu, we can learn more about Brunei and it's culture. The view behind the museum is so cool.
Then we visited the largest national mosque in Brunei, Masjid Jame Asr Hassanil Bolkiah.
We stayed in Park Garden Hotel, nemu lobster gede peliharaan yang punya hotel.
The map!
I bought some souvenirs in airport.
 1. Kampong Ayer postcard.
2-3. Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque postcard (buit to commemorate the 25th anniversary of His Majesty the Sultan's reign, this mosque is the largest and arguably the most magnificent in Brunei).
4. The Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Stadium, has all the modern facilities for sports and games. National Day celebration rehearsal in progress.
5. A bookmark plated.

It's really an amazing chance to visit this country, a beautiful, clean, and friendly country, even if Brunei is in Borneo island just like Indonesia, they're really rich, devout in religion, and developed!
And it's the end of my Umrah Story, I'm so grateful.
The first chapter is here, the second chapter is here, and the third chapter is here.
